Taylor was born in New Jersey and lived there and in Maine until moving to Southern California in Junior High School. He is the oldest of five children.
He attended high school in Claremont, which is located about forty miles east of downtown Los Angeles. After graduating in 2003, he went to study at UCLA, where he majored in Political Science with an emphasis in Political Theory and minored in Philosophy and German. He also took classes at the UCLA Anderson School of Management, and hopes to work with or in the business community at some point in his career.
While at UCLA, Taylor was very involved in various extracurricular activities. He sat on the executive board for Bruin Democrats, the largest political group at UCLA, and in that capacity hosted politicians on campus, helped improve the greater Los Angeles community, and worked in state and national politics. He was also a director of Dance Marathon, which raises money for Pediatric AIDS research and helps fund camps for children affected or infected with HIV/AIDS. In the two years he sat on that committee, the philanthropic dance event raised over $700,000.
In the summer of 2007, Taylor interned at the United States Conference of Mayors in Washington, DC. He acted as a liaison between the member cities and the Conference. Specifically, he directly lobbied over fifty city offices to take action on an Energy and Efficiency Block Grant, which with the cities support passed and will allocate ten billion dollars for cities to increase energy efficiency and expand infrastructure. He also sat in on Congressional meeting that affected the Conference and its member cities and wrote about these issues in the organization's newspaper, the US Mayor.
Taylor is interested in marketing, graphic design, and web design. Through his web design company, he has created many websites, including the one for this firm. He also ran the marketing campaign for a UCLA Student Government political slate for two years, working on everything from banner and t-shirt designs to student outreach.
In the next few years, Taylor plans to attend law school. Though he has not decided what type of law to practice, he hopes that he can use his degree to help out those in need in whatever community he works in. |
